What duties does this role involve?


The development group at NextPharma is organized in an across-site organization. The role of Pharmaceutical Development Project Manager reports to site Head of Development with a dotted line to the Director Global project Management – Pharmaceutical Development and deals with projects in the development of pharmaceutical products.


Project Management of customer projects in early- or late-stage development, technology screening, clinical supply or commercial readiness.

  • Key accountability is the overall success in delivery resulting in full customer satisfaction, streamlining communication and governance, facilitating issue resolution and providing overview of site project/portfolio execution
  • Coordinate portfolio execution and delivery through local Scientist/PMs and project teams
  • Ensure internal resources are aligned to deliver to the integrated project timeline and all the customer needs and expectations
  • Responsible for streamlined communication internally and externally, representing customer needs across the organization at the site level.
  • At every point in time maintain knowledge of all projects handled within the site and ensure top-level understanding of their current status
  • Together with Global PM Director ensure appropriate key performance indicators (KPIs) are in place to measure and monitor projects progress and ensure best practice sharing in Project Management. Positively drive PM Standard Work utilization and consistency across all the projects during their execution
  • Generate and maintain integrated project timeline. Best in class forecasting and demand planning for the given opportunities and projects
  • Execute Risk management across the project portfolio
  • Ensure appropriate project governance structure is in place.
  • Depending on the complexity of the projects/portfolio, this role could be fully dedicated role, or shared with other PM responsibilities. It is common, based on project size, that one Project Manager manages and leads projects within one site in combination with projects going across more technologies and / or sites.
  • PM responsibilities:
    • Lead project execution after deal closure. Lead and motivate multi-disciplinary project teams and hold team members accountable to deliver results within an agreed project governance structure to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the life of the project.
    • Act as single point of contact for customer and ensure each project milestone is delivered in line with the agreed objectives
    • Manage project scope, timelines and budget and project profitability together with core project team. Raise and prepare scope changes and communicate them to the customer in close collaboration with Business Development

Most of the time is spent in the location, where work is executed. It is common, based on project size, that one Project Manager manages projects within one site in combination with projects going across more technologies and / or sites.


What are we looking for in applicants?

  • University degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
  • Several years of work experience in pharmaceutical development and 5-10 years of experience as Project Manager, with a rich experience in managing complex customer projects ideally within CDMO business model
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills, hands-on mentality with a high level of self-motivation, capable to work under minimal supervision
  • Agile and able to drive change and fostering a change-ready organization, who can anticipate, quickly adapt to and meet new challenges
  • Ability to communicate effectively and at all levels within an organization
  • Pragmatic, organized and results oriented and with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent planning, organization and controlling skills
  • Ability and willingness to convey proficiency in project management to others
  • Strong customer and internal interpersonal skills; understands the value of building relationships based on trust. Customer centric problem-solving mindset
  • Result-driven and proactive mindset
  • Finnish native speaker and fluent in English
  • Willingness to travel (10-20%)
